Episode 01.07 – Star-Spangled Podcast – 4 July 2017

  • Welcome to the seventh episode of You Say Toma(h)to! It’s a star-spangled podcast for you this month. Jeremy and I discuss American and European history and what we learned about each as school children.
  • I got one of the facts in this month’s podcast a bit wrong. For clarification, please check out this post by the US Office of the Historian.
  • This month I got to Skype with my friends Helen and Geoff. In addition to discussing travelling and living in different countries, we talked about dating across national borders.
  • Our Word of the Month is a firecracker of an American word that’s sure to go off with a bang!
  • Here is the blog post from Grammarphobia we mentioned in the podcast. SPOILERS: Don’t check this out until after you listen to our Word of the Month segment if you like the word to be a surprise.
  • There are several musical selections in this month’s episode including Stars and Stripes Forever composed by John Philip Sousa and played by the United States Army Band, The Daily News by Electric Mirrors from their album UFO Stories, and Joy in the Restaurant by David Szesztay.
